Dear Members,

Sub: Recognition of VFI Election by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB)

We are pleased to inform that Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) vide its communication dated 22nd August 2017 (enclosed) recognized elections of Volleyball Federation of India held at Chennai on 11th April 2016 and also listed the elected office bearers except for the post of President.

The FIVB has fully accepted the Hon’ble Delhi High Court Order, the order of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and
Indian Olympic Association.

In addition to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India and Indian Olympic Association now finally
the FIVB has also accepted the VFI Elections held at Chennai on 11.04.2016 and has recognized the successful candidate
in that election. They have specifically listed the names of the office bearers in their communication and recognized them.

Further FIVB specifically mentioned that since July 2017 the position of President is vacant in VFI.
Therefore any person claiming to act as President or sending authority letters etc is misleading the public and
Volleyball fraternity.

Since July 2017 nobody is holding position of the President VFI. This issue is subjudice and will be decided by
the competent courts.

This is really great news for all volleyball lovers, players and volleyball fraternity.

FIVB has also mentioned in their communication that once the office of President is filled in accordance with
Indian law either by virtue of a final decision of a court of competent jurisdiction or through an election duly
called and properly held, the FIVB will provide the information to the FIVB Board of Administration for its
consideration regarding the lifting of the provisional suspension.

This is for your kind information.

With best wishes,

RAMAVTAR SINGH JAKHAR
Secretary General
Volleyball Federation of India.

Sub: Performance of our Teams in 17th Asian Games – Incheon, South Korea

I would like to share with all our Members, the performance of our Teams in the recently concluded 17th Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea.

I would like to inform that the Government of India has appointed the undersigned as Manager of both Men and Women Volleyball Teams for the Incheon Asian Games.

Men Team

I am happy to inform that our Men Team performed very well and played extraordinary Volleyball with all the Asian Powerhouse teams like Japan, Korea, Iran, Thailand, Qatar etc. We have lost the crucial
5-setter match against Japan in the Quarter Final and lost the tough game and thereby missed the medal chance due to bad luck and secured 5th Position afterIran, Japan, Korea and China and among 16 Asian Teams participated, which is a creditable performance.

Our Players Mr. Gurinder Singh, Mr. Prabagaran, Mr. Ukkrapandian, Mr. Ranjith Singh, Mr. Vaishnav and Lavmeet Kataria gave their excellent performance. With this good momentum of our Team, we will strive hard to secure podium finish in the Asian Senior Men’s Championship in 2015.

As already informed to all our Members, our Senior Men’s Team by their outstanding performance, secured Silver Medal in the 4th AVC Cup held at Almaty, Kazakhstan in August 2014.

Women Team

The performance of our Women Team was also excellent in the Incheon Asian Games.

I wish to inform our Members, that for the first time in Asian Games’ history, our Women Team has qualified to play Quarter Finals in the Asian Games. Our Team performed very well against the top Asian Teams like China, Japan, Korea and Thailand. The players like Tiji Raju, Terin Antony, Nirmal, Preeti Singh and Priyanka Khedkar have performed to their full potential and secured many points against the top teams. Our Women Team secured 8th Position in the Asian Games.

Both Men and Women Teams improved their performances tremendously in comparison with the last edition of the Asian Games. With little more effort and exposure, I firmly believe that our Team will achieve the desired result in the future events.

With cooperation and guidance of all our members, it is not far away that our team will attain their excellence in the coming days.

With best wishes,

RAMAVTAR SINGH JAKHAR
Secretary General, VFI.
